The Welsh based band "Much Ado" were setting up. The staff at the Globe were setting out the food and bottling up the bar. Co and I were the little helpers for the evening ahead. Forty-odd guests turned up for the delicious supper. A great perk to volunteering was having a taster ourselves! At 8pm on the dot, the band started playing and the guests began dancing. Adults of all ages, a couple of very well behaved children all getting to grips with the moves on the dance floor! Even I had a go to even up the numbers, yee ha! After speaking to many of the people taking part it was great to hear how far they'd traveled for the Hay Walking Festival: Canada, Switzerland, London, Oxford .... Some were not participating in any walks but had traveled to Hay just for the Ceilidh, one group from Malvern. The feedback to the evening was great: "The food was lovely''. "The dancing was tremendous fun ... will you be having another one soon?". "I must go home, we've got a early morning walk tomorrow!". Thank you to the band and venue .... but most of all to all those who bought tickets and supported an evening event at the first Hay Walking Festival! Lisa Marie x
