High Days and Holidays Along the Welsh Border Marches Saturday 2nd April, 7.30 pm at the historic Maesyronnen Chapel, Glasbury on WyeAn evening to transport you back to the 18th and 19th century Welsh borders with West Gallery music, folk-song, rounds and catches. All sung in the energetic style of the Village Quire and interspersed with snippets from the local archives, stylishly read by actor Phil Smith. Meet the garrulous parish clerk, the inebriated ‘specials’, the duelling young bucks, the ‘Rebecca’ rioter, and some larger than life characters from ‘above stairs’. Season with a liberal sprinkling of local folklore and customs and you have a delicious recipe for a good night out! This event is a charity fund-raiser for Christian Aid. Concert tickets £7 from Mike Ricketts-Hein on 01497 847391, or contact the quire on: 01497 847676 / quintet@villagequire.org.uk www.villagequire.org.uk
