1.Mill Project 1. John Whitehead gave the group a brief update of the Mill Project in Talgarth. The project had come first out of 6 – BBC is involved. They filmed the presentation of the Cheque which was in the B&R last week. 2. It was wondered whether the “Walking Booklet” launch should be filmed for the project to show links between it and the Community. It was agree to invite them. 3. At the meeting, the night before, it was agreed that a Community Video project should be established at the Mill site. 4. A guy from “Newport” involved with teaching Media Skills was to be approached to be part of the project. 5. Also a meeting had taken place with Richard Waterston who runs a web based TV information service. 6. Also it was suggested that Talgarth should have a ‘Bread Festival’. Only a proposal, as it needs a lot more discussion with Festival Group, Anne Hillier etc. 7. Time Scale is tight. The Mill has to be finished by February 2011. The “Bakery” has to be running by then. It has to be fully open by Easter 2011. 8. The organic wheat to produce the bread will come from Organic Farms at Lower Porthamel (Not this year). It will have to be sourced from elsewhere to start with. So the Mill should include (1) Milling, (2) Wood-fired bakery, (3) Educational facilities and (4) Video Project base. Bake house to produce 65 loaves per day, 15000 per annum. It was hoped that the Bake House will attract potential Bakers, for 2 or 3 days per week. The Film (BBC) on the progress should be out in the spring. 9. There are to be two separate systems. Completely rebuild the Water Mill 1). Water wheel will drive the grinding stones 2). There will be a hydro- system for the turbine to produce electricity. The intention is to Mill 40 days per year. Planning Permission not yet granted by Brecon Beacons National Park.
2. The Group were informed that Michael Cunningham’s launch of his engine was imminent.
3. Walking Booklet. Launch Tuesday 25th May 2010. Morning walk to the Whipping Tree to start at 10 a.m. then Back to the Tower Hotel for 1.pm. Official launch is at 1.pm. At 1.45 p.m. second walk around the Town of Talgarth led by Jill Fawke. Carol has a list of people involved and who will attend the walk. They include, Tom Addy, Neil Morris, Daniel Thomas, John Wake, Geoff Smart, Robert and Jan Hughes and Richard Tyler.
The Booklet is available to distribute in shops and outlets including the TIRC. Current print is 3000. At lunchtime, Mary Taylor has been invited. Richard Livesey has sent his apologies. In November/ December 2010 Welsh Country Walks is to include an article on these Walks. William felt that David Bevan should be involved. The Walks will be loaded on to the Website. The TRIC can put it on their website.
3. It was stated that the new TRIC Website is much better than the old one but the Web4u website will be maintained for the next year.
4. The Action Plan. It was agreed that the Action Plan should be looked at page by page. (Carol to produce updated sheets for the next meeting).
