1). The Walking Booklet.

The Walking Booklet will be published in a few weeks.  It was suggested that the “Launch of the Booklet took place with a walk finishing at the local brewery.

The Booklet needs to be publicised.  It needs to be publicised in the “Walking Magazines” and other Leisure Booklets.

It was decided to invite to the Launch, Helen Lloyd Jones, Town Council, Members of the TRIC etc.

The date agreed was the 25th May 2010.

The Walk will be from 10 am to 1 pm.

Reception – Cheese etc at the Tower Hotel

Pip needs to be asked.

2.  Mill Project.  The crucial date is the 4th May.  . This will be followed by 3 full days of presentation by all the groups involved.  The result will be known the following week (hopefully).  There will be a mock presentation on Sunday 18th April from 4p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Town Hall. The presentation will be by A. Hillier, J. Whitehead and A Lovell

3. Website

The group were made aware that the TRIC Website was being updated by a Computer Programmer from Cwmbach.

It was reported to the meeting that a new website had been developed by the Regeneration group which was business orientated.

Web4-u website.  Those present were asked if they still wished this site to continue.  It was agreed that Collaborate would pay for this year’s hosting fees.

Clive Michaelwright informed the group he had already paid to the TRIC a sum of £50 for this year.   It was reiterated again how important it was to Talgarth to have a Website which was of a high standard (At the time of the meeting the revamped TIRC website had not been viewed on line.)

PDF of the walks will be put onto the web.  Talgarth TIRC needs to be contacted to ensure continuity.

4. The Action Plan.

The following [points were discussed in no particular order.

1.  It was pointed out that the Bridge End Inn had now been purchased and would hopefully be open soon.    Hopefully this establishment will add another eating outlet in Talgarth.

2.   Signage       Brown signage needs revamping.  A letter needs to go from the group supporting any action that the town might take in this area.

3.  John Wyke has been appointed by the BBNPA to look at the Conservation Area.  He will be preparing a report over the few months looking at significant features in the area and ‘local important buildings (LIB)

The meeting spent longer than expected discussing the full report largely because at the 9th March Meeting, copies were not available.

The following points were raised.

1.     Page 3   Amendment to Bronllys Castle – re signage.

2.    Page 7   It was suggested that reference should be made to the Middle Wye Valley which is where Talgarth is geographically located.

3.    Page 13   Accommodation. Alyson was asked to identify the location of the Hotels  etc. and to check that info collated was accurate.

4.    Page 14  to be added “St Gwendoline’s  Church  6th Century Origin

Castell Dinas  ..... Also site of Norman Castle.

    Add music.

6.    Page 16   The Town was not bypassed.  It has a Relief Road.

7.    Page 17    Mention – The National Cycleway that goes through Talgarth.

8.    REMOVE CLOSURE OF Bridge End Inn.

5.   Talgarth MUST do Visitor experience sheet was discussed.

6.   The meeting discussed the Draft Action Plan (on the Grid)

It was agreed that No 14 re Town Hall Basement should be removed – Too politically sensitive.

The costing of this action plan was raised.   It was agreed that the plan would be taken away and possible sources of income should be added.  For example some of the “monies “ to produce up to date  promotional leaflets for Talgarth TIRC (No 2) could come from Collaboro8 monies.

It was suggested in No 7 re-trees and Bronllys Castle should be removed.

No 13  Talgarth already has a Sunday Country Market once a month so reference needs removing.

Remove from No 7  Tumpa (Land Hereford’s Knob).

Action Plan with highlights   Page 2 rename 11.2

P25  Remove 14.2 and 15 and rewrite.

Without proper costings and without the cooperation of groups and individuals to monitor and action this plan, this Action Plan will become a wish list and will not be implemented.

At the next meeting, the Group were informed that they needed to consider their vision and focus for the future.

The next meeting is on 18th May 2010 (prior to the Walking Booklet Launch on 25th may).
