1. New website information/design
• Modern, simple, more photographs and visitor facing
• Have welcome messages in key languages on website
• Plus better online integration as a whole – links to local attraction sites, BBC site, Facebook and National Park sites, Google Earth etc.
• Future developments could include online booking for activities and something for genealogy tourism
2. New promotional leaflet for Talgarth
• Map based and merging several of the previous info sheets
• Maintain annual listing of accommodation
3. Improve road signage for the town
• Brown signing on approach roads
• Welcome signs
• Sign for waterfall
4. Destination Talgarth
• Continue joint working together and good communication and co-operation.
5. Promotions and offers
• Between activity providers and accommodation – eg gliding, riding, mountain biking
• Offer incentives to return
6. Make more of hub status for mountain biking
• Good page on website,
• Familiarisation for local businesses,
• Promotions and packages as above
7. Bronllys Castle
• Contact Cadw re website and printed info on Castle
• Support for tree thinning programme.
• Do Cadw run events and family friendly promotions/ education activities for ‘nurturing parents’? If not can they be encouraged to?
8. PR plan
• To promote key events eg new booklet, mill project, new leaflets, festival
• Familiarisation trips from other TICs and other attractions.
• Photographic competition for better quality pictures to use on website and in leaflets?
9. Heritage trail/booklet
• Incorporate geology within this and have family history sources of info
• Parallel geocaching trail?
10. Hanging baskets and attractive planting around the town (Green/sustainability theme?) Any scope to link with local gardens or garden centres for plants and cross-promotion.
11. Paint run down buildings and shops
12. Visitor survey
• To dig deeper into current visitor profiles, likes and dislikes and monitor success of new initiatives.
13. Food and drink
• Encourage more local sourcing of food and drink – local cheeses, meat, bread, plus venison, whisky, ice cream, apple juice, new beer – all available and visitors will be keen to try.
• Could this link to establishing a farmers market – start with a few one offs on event days or even an annual food and drink festival or food/drink themed event, beer festival, cheese tasting, visits to food producers etc?
14. Town hall basement
• What are the options and gaps – heritage/family history/events/music/food???
15. Bell ringing
• Explore viability of new event and/or incorporate in main festival?
16. Capitalise on Mill restoration
• If/when funding for Mill restoration secured – scope to promote pub/shop opportunities to private sector
• Set up courses, packages, other
