Sixth annual Visual Arts exhibition in Glasbury PDF Print E-mail

The sixth annual Glasbury Arts Visual Arts exhibition once again brings together a very wide range of work, from paintings to pottery, and from sculpture to stone carving.

Glasbury Arts is delighted that, in this year’s exhibition,  The Contemporary Arts Society for Wales will be showing three new works purchased this year, works which will go on to be exhibited in a number of public galleries before being placed in a permanent collection.

In addition, a mix of local artists, some nationally known, and a number of guest artists offer a rich tapestry of styles and media ranging from the exquisite stone carving of Caitriona Cartwright and the amazing forged metal sculptures of Ambrose Burne to the colour and skill that bring the paintings of John Darlison, Brontë Woodruff and Kate Freeman to vibrant life.

There is also a complete exhibit entitled Rhondda Grey?, in which five artists challenge the preconception of the Welsh valleys as a landscape without colour, and two students from Hereford College of Arts exhibit a selection of new and exciting work.

There will also be a display of the best 75 photographs from the 2009 Glasbury Photographic Competition with the theme People and Places, and Simon Cartwright will launch his new collection of poetry – Groveside.

Entry to the exhibition at Glasbury Village Hall, which runs from Friday November 6 – Sunday November 8 inclusive, is free. Opening times: Friday, 7pm to 9pm, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5.30pm

The sixth annual Glasbury Visual Arts Exhibition is supported by River Café Glasbury and Old Forest Arts.
