Black Mountains Lions Club was formed in 1973, and is part of the world-wide organisation - Lions Clubs International, which itself was founded in Chicago in 1917. Black Mountains Lions Club is open to men and women, and covers an area based on the towns of Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth, together with the surrounding villages of Bronllys, Llyswen, Glasbury-on-Wye, Llanigon, Painscastle, Clyro, Whitney-on-Wye and Dorstone.
Over the years, the Club has raised thousands of pounds, with the generosity of the local community, which has all been spent on Charitable Projects, mainly locally but also some International Projects.
Despite the serious objectives behind the organisation, all members thoroughly enjoy themselves, whether fundraising, assisting with projects or attending social functions. Anyone interested in joining or wanting further information can contact the secretary, David James on 01497/820227. |
