Welsh National Parks plan to bring the great outdoors indoors for Royal Welsh Show
Just when you thought you couldn’t guarantee the weather in Wales, Welsh National Parks have joined forces to bring the outdoor experience indoors showcasing their very own ‘Tour de Parc’ at the Royal Welsh Show this year. Mountain biking has never looked so easy or so effortless – and the Trixter indoor bikes complete with realistic virtual DVD mountain routes are a great way to experience mountain biking in a National Park without the spills, wobbles or traffic! So, if you’ve never cycled before this is your chance to try it in a safe environment with an introductory session on the much hyped Trixter bikes is the perfect way to get started - and if you’re a seasoned cyclist, you can race against your friends or even an Olympic Champion.
At this year’s Royal Welsh Show (from 20th – 23rd July), the three Welsh National Park Authorities - Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia and Pembrokeshire Coast - are aiming to draw attention to the wide range of sustainable outdoor activities that can be undertaken within the National Parks in Wales. Their exhibition stand at the Royal Welsh show will offer tips and guidance on mountain biking, sustainability, climate change including how to grow your own veg and set up a worm farm. And if all that’s not enough they’ll even offer to face paint your children’s faces with some of the flowers, birds and animals from the Parks while you look around their stand. Monday will be spotlighting walking in the Parks, Tuesday will be highlighting cycling and mountain biking, Wednesday is cob day and the British Horse Society will be talking about riding in the Parks and some of the riding centres will be coming along as well.
Chairman for the Welsh Association of National Park Authorities Richard Howells said: ''We are delighted to be able to invite the public to our exhibition stand this year and enjoy the wide range of vital work undertaken by National Park Authorities in Wales. Our Welsh National Parks have gained a tremendous international reputation and attract visitors from all over the world. We hope that anyone with an interest in our work will take the opportunity to visit the National Park stand at the Royal Welsh Show next week to help us celebrate the contribution we have made and continue to protect our Welsh National Parks for our future generations.
